We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to assist with the day-to-day running of our busy Ophthalmology Department. This is a permanent post and the job attracts 10 sessions per week.

This is a very exciting time to join the Ophthalmology Department at Cwm Taf University Health Board, and the Department is committed to the training, development and career progression of its clinical team.

The successful candidates will have Ophthalmic hospital experience and demonstrate a good grounding in general Ophthalmology. Applicants must hold full registration with the General Medical Council

Cwm Taf UHB was formally established on 1st October 2009 and replaced the former Cwm Taf NHS Trust. In total, Cwm Taf UHB employs over 8000 staff across two District General Hospital sites – Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil which opened in 1978 and Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant which opened in 1999, and seven smaller community hospitals.

The Ophthalmology Department forms an integral part of the UHBs Head & Neck Services Directorate. The directorate encompasses ENT, Ophthalmology, Medical Illustration, Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Services, Audiology, Orthoptics and Dental Laboratories.

Cwm Taf UHB currently provides services to around 330,000 people. The UHB will primarily serve the residents of Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff as well as residents of North Cardiff, parts of the Rhymney Valley, South Powys and other adjacent health communities. Residents of Rhondda Cynon Taff, from Treherbert and Maerdy in the North to Ynysybwl, Llantrisant and Beddau in the South, the Cynon Valley in the centre and Merthyr Tydfil and the Rhymney Valley in the East will use the services provided by the UHB.
