Senior Midwife - Clinical Governance and Risk – Band 8a

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Midwife to undertake the role of Clinical Governance and Risk. This is a pivotal role in our Senior Management structure to drive forward a safe and innovative service change in partnership with the Head of Midwifery embedding good practice governance systems.

It is expected that you will be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills and a wide knowledge of both acute and community midwifery service. You will work in collaboration with a dynamic team of Senior Midwives to shape the service within the new Maternity Unit and the Free Standing Midwifery Unit, implementing and influencing excellent governance practices through the Midwifery Governance Team.   This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual with inspirational leadership skills and an appetite for developing exceptional governance practices to ensure the delivery of safe and first-rate maternity care through a population health lens. You will work with the senior management team, providing senior advice, support and strategic leadership in the area of risk and governance, along with professional challenge. Working closely with the Head of Midwifery you will represent Governance and Risk for our Midwifery service at both a directorate, UHB and national level and join an ambitious, high performing team.

You will have had demonstrable success influencing and implementing governance systems and management and leadership within a clinical role.  You will have established your credibility with multiple stakeholders. Most of all, you will be able to motivate and engage others to ensure that the services we provide supports the UHB values, as well as having a pioneering approach to managing risk and governance to ensure the Maternity Service of Cwm Taf UHB is an exemplar.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
