We are seeking to appoint hospital doctors to support a large team of consultants in developing a new and innovative way of caring for children in South Wales, UK. These posts are available for periods of 12 to 24 months and provide an excellent opportunity to explore Wales, the UK and Europe. Longer term opportunities are also available.
Cwm Taf is a University Health Board with an excellent academic record and staff are actively encouraged and supported to participate in research projects and to continually enhance their professional development. We are a recognized centre for teaching APLS and PALS and there are opportunities for both teaching and assisting of paediatric exams which take place at our hospitals as well as attending teaching sessions at the University Hospital of Wales and our partner organisations the University of South Wales and Cardiff University.
Cwm Taf University Health Board provides primary, secondary and community healthcare services to over 330,000 people and we employ over 7,600 staff across two District General Hospital sites, six smaller community hospitals as well as a flagship University Health Park – the first of its kind in Wales combining health and social care under one roof.
The University Health Board is located north of Cardiff – Wales’ cosmopolitan capital city with its wide range of restaurants, shops, theatres, and art galleries. It is also home to the world famous concert venue The Wales Millennium Centre, as well as the jewel in the crown of Welsh rugby – the Millennium Stadium. Our location affords opportunities to participate in a wide range of outdoor activities, including water sports, hiking, hang gliding, rock climbing and base jumping.
There are many areas of outstanding beauty nearby. To the north is the Brecon Beacons National Park and to the south the rolling hills of the Vale of Glamorgan and the South Wales Heritage Coast with easy access to the fabulous views of the Gower Peninsula. There is an excellent choice of housing and schools within easy travelling times of our hospitals.
There are also good air, road, rail and sea links, which provide easy access for travel throughout the UK, Europe and beyond – a fantastic base from which to visit numerous countries and experience many different cultures within the northern hemisphere. Cardiff’s International Airport is ideally located for travel to all areas of the world.
